Well the last time I posted anything on my blog it was a bit deep. So I thought it would be fitting to post something a lil lighter. I will do a twofer on this post since I have two topics to discuss.
The first, is that this week I am 20 weeks pregnant, officially halfway through. Seems like just yesterday I was looking at a pee stick in shock and today this lil angel is bouncing all over the place inside me! Speaking of which this week Sofia Grace (oh yeah, that's what we decided to name her---Sofia has been my baby name forever, I sound like Charlotte on Sex in the City all crazy with baby names---and Grace just seemed fitting, especially given all the grace I have been shown in life---I digress) has become SOOOO strong! It seems she and her sister Chloe are on the same schedule. Every morning without fail Sofia Grace is up and at 'em kicking up a storm. This is also the same time her sister Chloe likes to start being playful. So every morning as I lay in bed in peaceful sleep one of the two wakes me up. I roll my eyes and giggle. They have their daddy's energy; ay dios mio! So back to being 20 weeks pregnant. Some things to note: 1) I am starting to feel "pregnant" and by that I mean bigger, fuller faster and some days I feel like my lungs are a bit squished, 2) Daddy felt Sofia kick for the first time yesterday morning...he kind of freaked, she was kicking hard...lil monster, 3) I don't seem to move with the same agility as I did before; for example I used to pop right out of bed, now it's a 3 step process...1. roll over, 2. prop arms under body, 3. push body up with arms as legs swing over edge of the bed. I don't really do this because I can't get up but mostly because my center of gravity is a bit off and it seems my ever spreading abdominal muscles can't quite boost me out of bed with the same force and speed as before. This week Sofia Grace is officially the length of a banana....lol, my chiquita is a banana. Here's a recent pic.
The other topic I wanted to discuss is Sofia's room. Most of my friends know that I am not a fan of pink; perfect for the mom having a girl! Of course I made things difficult on myself from the get go because I had a vision of the color scheme that I wanted and it lacked a lot of pink. I don't know why I am not a fan of the color but I'm just not. So, I decided to chose a color pallet very similar to our wedding color pallet. That of course involves some orange (no not burnt orange, I am a UT fan but I am not THAT crazy of a fan). I love citrus colors and the colors of a sunset so I decided to go with something along those lines. Painting the walls was a big deal because originally I thought I would use a light grey but after busying some of the furniture for her room which was grey I thought that might look too plain. I decided on Alabaster (fancy talk for a light yellow). Now I LOVE to accessorize, in fact when it comes to fashion accessorizing is my forte so I picked a gorgeous accessory for her room...a beautiful chandelier made of shells! I love it! Finding linens without a lot of pink is virtually impossible so I poured through Etsy and a host of other sites and settled on some fabrics I thought reflected my taste more and matched her room. I envision her room growing with her so I want something not so "babyish," (is that even a word?). Below is the mood board I created, yes I know, I am a huge dork for creating this but I carry it with me wherever I go in case I find something for her room. Plus, I am a planner and a visionary, Husband---not so much. He can't envision things so I have to show him and this was the best way to do it. Husband Daddy (his newly appointed nickname) has already painted Sofia's room. I will take pics as the work progresses.
Love the color theme - I am not a big fan of blue for boys and pink for girls either, but rather a variety of colors. Your blog background kinda matches your theme too :)
